HAPPY HOUR PLAYGROUP

Mama Sweet: My husband works crazy hours. This doesn’t really bother me since I always have tasks to complete throughout the week. However, I have always felt like he should be home on Friday night...since he just got paid and we should be at happy hour. About a year ago, I decided to make the best of the situation and started a Happy Hour playgroup with a few of my closest girlfriends. We take turns hosting and always enjoy a great glass of wine and some yummy appetizers. It has made Friday my favorite night of the week and I am so thankful for this sweet group of women that toast with me and support me after a long week of mothering.

Recently, my husband has started to come home at 7:30pm on Fridays so we can have “date night” at home. This day just can not get any better!

Mama Sour: The playground drama has begun. My 5 year old has been incredibly grumpy this week. I made a point to sit down on the bed and ask her if anything happened at school to upset her and then waited in silence. It only took about 7 seconds until she unfurled the heartache of her best friend choosing to play with another and leave her out. I tried to help her navigate the situation by suggesting that she ask another friend to play. She took my advice and came home today and said that both of them said no. Ouch! She is so social and so sweet. I don't know how to tell her that little girls can just be very fickle and that they'll be her best friend again next week. It makes my heart hurt for her.
